Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located in the Liangfengpo area of the Tang Bianzhai region about 3 km to the west of the Qinglong County Town, Guizhou Province. It was named by Wang Yu et al., in 1963.


Lithology and Thickness

Siltstone. A suite of grey-green siltstone, intercalated with limestone lenses. Its basal part is composed of thin-bedded siltstone. Its middle and upper parts are composed of grey-green siltstones, intercalated with three layers of clayey limestone lenses. Thickness is over 26.3 m.

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Xuanwei Fm

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Lower Triassic strata (Feixianguan Fm)

Regional extent

Occurs only in the naming area of the Tang Bianzhai region.

Fossils

Fusulinida such as Palaeofusulina sinensis, Nankinella sp., etc ; Brachiopods such as Pugnax pseudoutah, Avonia janus, Uncinunellina timorensis, Schelliwienella regularis, Streptorhynchus sp., etc.; and Bivalves such as Girtypecten sublaguratus, Aviculopecten cf. hellatulus, etc..
